Typefaces

Five families, each a single variable file. Every name below is a live specimen: scroll it and the axes run their range, then rest at the face's display cut. Click through for the full set.

01 Meridian Variable grotesque Ilse Renko, 2021 wght 100-1000 wdth 25-151 slnt -10-0 opsz 8-144
Meridian

The face the whole foundry hangs off. Engineered, even, and warmer than it looks at a glance.

02 Press Variable text serif Ilse Renko, Tomas Field, 2020 wght 200-900 opsz 6-96 slnt -9-0
Press

Cut for the page first. The ink traps open as the optical-size axis drops, the way metal type was relieved for small sizes.

03 Signal Variable monospace Tomas Field, 2022 wght 200-800 slnt -11-0
Signal

The chrome of this site is set in Signal. Disambiguated zero, tall lowercase, even rhythm under glance.

04 Marquee Variable display grotesque Ilse Renko, 2023 wght 300-1000 wdth 40-175
Marquee

Drawn only for size. The joints thin and the apertures close as the weight climbs, so it stays even at 22 vw.

05 Field Variable humanist sans Tomas Field, 2024 wght 100-900 wdth 75-125 slnt -12-0
Field

Calligraphic underneath the discipline. The slant axis interpolates to a true cursive, not a sheared roman.

How to read a specimen
  • The throw. As a name scrolls in, its weight, width and slant animate to the extremes of its axes, then settle.
  • The placard. The mono caption gives the designer, the year and the axis range, the way a wall label does.
  • The cursor. The read-out trailing the cursor prints the live weight range of whatever you are over.
